Dia de Muertos 2020
The Marolles are getting ready for the 3rd edition of Dia de Muertos. This year, the Mexican Day of the dead will also commemorate the victims of the corona crisis. With the construction of an altar, workshops, intimate concerts and a sober celebration on the Place du Jeu de Balle.
In recent months we have all learned to look differently at life, death and everything in between. At first full of doubt, anger and fear about what happened. Then again determined and hopeful about what will be possible (again). Therefore, the team behind Dia de Muertos in the Marolles thought it was important to give the current health crisis a place in the 2020 edition.
We would therefore like to invite you to join us in paying tribute to loved ones who have left us. This can be done by making an offering and placing it at the altar that is being built at CC Bruegel. From 31 October to 2 November, workshops will be organised for this purpose in which you can take part with children from 8 years of age. On Saturday and Sunday evening there will be performances by 4Cascabel and Trio Organico for a limited audience.
On Monday November the 2nd there will be a sober celebration of Dia de Muertos on the Place du Jeu de Balle. The mythical Quetzalcóatl and Adriana, the giant skeleton created at the occasion of MegafoniX, will make their appearance with music by Remork & Karkaba feat. Dirk van der Harst and The Ledebirds, Mariachi Sabor a México & Banda Sorochj. Everyone wearing a (mouth)mask is welcome!
Reservations mandatory for the workshops, concerts and the celebration on 2 November! Contact 02 503 42 68 or firstname.lastname@example.org
