As in 2008, the European Saxophone Ensemble (ESE) has been distinguished with the titel of Cultural Ambassador of the European Union for 2010. Very soon auditions will be organized in different EU countries to gather a group of 12 excellent saxophone players from various professional environments.

The artistic aim is to break down the barriers between different types of music. The repertoire will cover a wide spectrum of styles: avant-jazz, contemporary, traditional and classical music. The ensemble will record a CD and tour during the second part of 2010.

The artistic director of this international project is composer, conductor and saxophonist Cezarius Gadzina. The European Saxophone Ensemble is a MET-X production with the support of the culture programme of the European Union.
