On October 19, we kick-off a series of free workshops on the Talking Drums of Western Africa. Accompanied by Beninese drummer and percussionist Ejaspapa Gnonlonfoun, you’ll learn everything about this fascinating instrument and polyrhythms. In the summer of 2024 you can play with GanGan TNS and other music groups during Fête de la Musique in the Marolles.

 

 

Do you want to immerse yourself in the culture of West African percussion? Starting this fall, you can learn to play polyrhythms on Talking Drums and other traditional portable percussion instruments from Benin with Ejaspapa Gnonlonfoun (Gankpo, Marockin’ Brass, AGO! Benin Brass, Sheikhs Shikhats & B’net Chaabi, …). In the coming months, Ejaspapa and participants of these workshops will form the percussion group GanGan The New Style, which will perform at Fête de la Musique dans les Marolles on 22 June 2024 and other MetX projects and events.
