Darna ends the season @ AB with AGO Gnawa ft. T.B. Wèh & BLAST

Brass from the world of jazz and global sounds, multilingual vocals, spoken word and rhythms that take you to North and West Africa. At it’s Winter Event on December 12, Darna offers you two exclusive concerts at AB, for free and 100% corona proof: AGO Gnawa ft. T.B. Wèh & BLAST, followed by Gnawa de Bruxelles ft. Lucid Lucia.

For this last grand concert of the year, MetX reunites 3 sections which have recorded a video for the climate campaign Let it Grow – Music for COP26 last October. On the one hand T.B. Wèh, a group with roots from Leuven to Ghana that guarantees an exciting marriage of hip-hop and acoustic percussion. On the other hand BLAST, a new brass and saxophone quartet with an exceptional composition and sound: 2 trumpeters, an alto saxophonist and a bass saxophonist from Brussels, Benin, Liege and Antwerp. AGO Gnawa, Luc Mishalle’s à la carte project on Gnawa music and related genres, is the bridge between the other two upcoming ensembles.

On December 12, they will present a new set consisting almost exclusively of music they have created themselves, enhanced by a special guest, Adrien Sezouba Rikura. Their groovy show will be punctuated by a song or a touch of spoken word.

The second concert of the evening will be presented by ‘Nuff Said, organiser of monthly shows mixing comedy, jazz, hip-hop and spoken word. At the request of Darna, they bring together their house band Lucid Lucia (formerly known as BRZZVLL) with les Gnawas de Bruxelles, led by mâalem and old MetX acquaintance Rida Stitou.

This is a Covid Safe Ticket+ event! Access is free, but registration in advance is mandatory.
