Tsoukina is a project by the young musician Imane Guemssy. Skilled in the traditional rhythms of gnawa music in Morocco and Brussels, she wants to make this repertoire accessible for other girls and women. She rearranges traditional songs, adapting them to the higher pitches of female voices. To these vocal lines, Imane adds the guembri, a north african lute, and krakeb, mediterranean percussion instruments. Out of this combination, the members of Tsoukina develop a unique and contemporary repertoire.
From 2019-2020 Tsoukina has been supported via a wild card by MetX.
