Back to school: Hand over your dreams to the Cosmogolem

The first day of school is an exciting day for many children. Together with Circularium and the Cosmogolem we wanted to make it something special. With performances, games, initiations trampoline jumping and putting dreams for the new school year into the heart of a wooden giant!

On the 1st of September, children entrusted their wishes, challenges and desires to the Cosmogolem in the form of little works of art. The colourful wooden giant passed them on to Flemish Minister for Brussels Affairs, Youth and Media Benjamin Dalle. A nice ritual to start off the new school year, completed with performances by the Fanfakids ft. UCB, games with Cultureghem and initiations in trampoline jumping with Circus Zonder Handen.

The Cosmogolem is a wooden giant of 4 meters high, created by artist Koen Vanmechelen as a worldwide symbol for children’s rights. In May 2021 children and artists celebrated the inauguration of a new Cosmogolem in Brussels.

A production by MetX, Studio Koen Vanmechelen and B-Classic in collaboration with MUS-E, Circularium, gemeente Anderlecht, Vlaanderen and a network of local partners in Brussels, Leuven, Diest and Genk. More info about this project on
